Viking settlement by LucieG-Stock Viking settlement by LucieG-Stock
Taken in l'Anse-Aux-Meadows where a 1000 year old viking colony was discovered in 1960 which made it the oldest European settlement known in North America. On the site they've now created a sort of a replica of the settlement. Apparently everything in it was created/built with the same resources and tools the vikings had available and would have used back then. I kinda suspect they must have used electric saws or manufactured nails every now and then though but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt... ;)

I really need to go see this place some day. I my family is descendant of Erik the Red. It would be really cool to see a piece of my ancestral legacy!

It's such a beautiful place!  Not only the Viking settlement, but all the area, Newfoundland to me is a little gem.
